Megan’s sugar cookies

Hello lovely followers! Today I’m posting my easy but delicious sugar cookie recipe m, just in time  for you to make with your littles for Christmas. These cookies are a hit and melt in your mouth 🤤

Ingredients:
-3/4 cup softened butter(not melted) that’s about 1.5 sticks
-4 Oz softened cream cheese; half a brick
-1cup sugar
-1 egg
-1/2 tsp. Salt
-1/2 tsp. Baking powder
-1/3 tsp. Vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. Almond extract
-Zest of a medium to large lemon
-3 cups all purpose flour
You can double the ingredients to double the recipe. I do that every season because we give our friends some.

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
-In large mixing bowl( I use my kitchen aide mixing stand) cream the butter, cream cheese, sugar and eggs until combined. Once combined add the salt, baking powder, both extracts, and the egg until that’s combined. Then add the flour one cup at a time until well combined. Side note: After it’s combined I use my hands to get the bottom ingredients that come loose to mix  in or else you’ll have a lot of uncombined dough, depending on how your mixer is. It happens 🤷🏼‍♀️
-Roll dough on lightly floured surface (1/4 thick) to cut your shapes. Now if you’re a lazy momma like me and want to cut time, I take some in my hand and roll flatten it. I place it on the parchment paper, press the cutter in and take away the left over dough 😂 yes I’m that lazy, but hey saves time and clean up!
-Place parchment paper on your baking sheet and cook for 7-9 minutes. These are extremely soft cookies. They’re meant to be, but you can cool to 12 minutes if you like them a little more crumbly.
-Obviously, let them cool before you frost them

Frosting:
Okay so you may say I don’t need to frost, and you don’t have to, but you want to. The combo together is heavenly and it’s not as good plain as it is frosted. So you’ll need:
6 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup whole milk ( or use a milk you use, I use skim)
1/4 cup corn syrup
2 tsp. Almond extract

Directions:
-Mix until smooth! I use to use an electric hand mixer but that powder sugar gets everywhere. I started using a spatula and mixing it by hand.

Once cookies are cool add the frosting and sprinkles or designs as you desire. I honestly just like the cookie and frosting, but since the girls, I let them decorate with sprinkles.

That’s it! The most melt in your mouth sugar cookies. I’d have a picture for you, but my family devoured them in a day.. not even joking! Plus I gave a ton to a friend who lost his apartment due to a bad pipe burst we had in our town.

Hope you enjoy! And thank you for following us 😘
